NOTD: H is for Harry Potter

Hi all!

So I have joined a new facebook group - Llama Nails and I was keen to jump in with the fun.

They are hosting a weekly A-Z nail art challenge and today's letter is H!

Being a Harry Potter fan it's obviously the first thing that sprang to my mind.  So here we have Lightning Bolts and Deathly Hallows.

I used:
Gosh Holographic
OPI Goldeneye
Nails Inc Black Taxi
Models Own Black Nail Art Pen

Goldeneye photographs really weird with the flash, Holograpic however looks amazing!

LOTD: Chanel - Venus

Hi all!

I do hope you're enjoying these lip posts.

Today I have another of my faves for you.  Chanel - Venus.  This lip gloss is the most indulgent piece of make-up I own but I nabbed it in the duty free in Dalaman last year.  I use it sparingly cuz even at duty free prices it cost me close to £20!

It is however totally worth it.

It goes on lovely and smooth, it's non-sticky.  The colour is nice and bright but not in your face and it has a subtle shimmer (that was hard to photograph).  Also as lip glosses go it is very long lasting and doesn't dry your lips out.

I love this so much that I would be willing to pay full price when the day comes that this runs out.

What's your most indulgent make-up item?

NOTD: Halloween is Coming...

... And the geese are getting fat.
Will you please put a penny in the old mans hat?
If you haven't got a penny then a ha'penny will do.
If you haven't got a ha'penny then God bless you and your auld man too!

It's Halloween, but I am working, though that doesn't mean I can't have fun nails =)

I used the OPI Skullicious set:
A-Rose from the Dead (pink)
Candlelight (yellow)
Morning Glory (black)
Hi, Pumpkin! (orange)

And some of the Day of the Dead, Sugar Skull water decals that came with it.

I love this so much =)

What are your Halloween nails?

Happy Halloween! - Recreate your favourite mani from another challenger

Hi all!

It's the end of the "This is Halloween" challenge and we have to recreate our favourite mani from another challenger.

I always hate the end of challenges, so I'll def be on the look out for another soon.

The challenger who's mani I have taken inspiration from is...

Marie's Manicure Madhouse

I loved the mani she did for day 9 - Witches, her Witch of choice Jadis the White Witch.  Her interpretation of Jadis' dress is beautiful so here is my attempt at recreating it =D

I used:
Revlon Blue Lagoon
Revlon Belle
Clear Mini Rhinestones
NYC Pinstripe White (RF)
Essence Frozen Queen (RF)

And so ends another wonderful challenge.  Watch this space for the next one...

NOTD: Smitten Polish - Winter is Coming

Hi all!

Another lemming of mine today - Smitten Polish: Winter is Coming!

I've recently started watching/reading Game of Thrones and I love it so when I found out about this polish, I had to have that.  Add to the fact that it's a stunning polish!

A crelly (creme/jelly) base with blue micro glitter and large hex pieces scattered throughout.
2 coats gave full opacity though I think a 3rd might have made the colour pop a bit more.

Love, love, love this colour!!

Day 10 - Trick or Treat!

Hi all!

Can't believe that it's day 10 of the "This is Halloween" challenge and we only have 1 more day to go.

Anyway today's theme is Trick or Treat!

As I'm currently sporting nubbins I decided to use some polishes that I consider a real TREAT!

Rainbow Honey's Equestria Collection.

I've went for a bit of a skittles theme also which is also technically a nice sweet treat.

Each nail is 2 coats of Nails Inc London Nights topped with 2 coats of each Equestria.

From thumb to pinkie:
20% Cooler
The Worst Possible Thing
The Element of Magic
Pinkie Promise
A Little Kindness

I'm loving the look of these, a real treat =)

What's your favourite kind of treat?

NOTD: Nails Inc St Mark's Square & OPI Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It

Hi all!

Continuing the Breast Cancer Awareness theme I've went with this little beauty St Mark's Square from Nails Inc. It looks more purple I'm the bottle but I think it shows more as pink on the nail. This was also a 1 coater with a nice formula.

I added a coat of Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It from OPI for a bit of shimmer and the hearts in it. 1 coat provided shimmer however in order to apply the hearts I had to "fish" them out and fab them on. It was a bit of a pain to be honest. Though the finished effect was nice but it might have looked better against a contrasting colour.

Overall I think this combo works quite well.

Do you like the hearts?

Day 9 - Graveyard

Hi all!

We're nearly at the end with Day 9 of the "This is Halloween" challenge and today we have witches.
This design is quite simple, some head stones and a hand coming out of the ground.

For the base I used OPI On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

For the head stones China Glaze Elephant Walk.

Day 8 - Witches

Hi all!

Day 8 of the "This is Halloween" challenge and today we have Witches!

I had no idea what to do for this.  Originally I thought I might paint some witches hate but then I thought what about colours associated with Witches?

So granted there's not actual "art" here but this is my interpretation. And my inspiration was the Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of Oz.

I used:
Cult Nails - Deal With It
Cult Nails - Hypnotize Me
Barry M - Red Glitter
Essence - Colour 3: Kiss On Top of the Rock/Dancing in the Streets

While I did like my original mani I then got inspiration elsewhere...

I used:
NYC - Pinstripe White
Nails Inc - London Nights
Kleancolor - Metallic Red
(and striping tape - not pictured)

Where would you get your Witch inspiration?

NOTD: Rainbow Honey - Oni

Hi all!

So here is the final instalment of my Rainbow Honey Yokai Collection review.

And I think I have saved the best for last.
Here we have Oni.

I would describe this as a rich chocolate brown full of flecky goodness.  There are golds, bronzes, coppers and reds throughout this.  It's a shimmery, glittery, masterpiece!

I really like this against my skin tone and it's the perfect colour for the autumn without being too cliché.

What Rainbow Honey say "The Malevolent Wild Demon
Let's be honest, Oni are generally depicted as wicked and hideous. Our "Oni" may be wicked and supernatural, but with its myriad of glass flecks and multi-chromatic shimmer it is hard to call it hideous. In fact, the consensus seems to be that it is one of the most beautiful and intense polishes out there this fall!"

Again I used 1 coat of OPI Nail Envy as a base.  2 coats of Oni gave full opacity.  And as always a generous top coat of Seche Vite.

I think this picture best captures the uniqueness of this polish, it shows everything I have described as well as the depth of the colour.  Simply stunning!

So that's the Yokai Collection, which has been your favourite?

This product was sent to me for review.  All opinions are my own.
