World Diabetes Day - 14th November 2012

Hi all!

This is a mani with a meaning.

So today is World Diabetes Day and I thought I would take this opportunity to help raise awareness for this illness as I have a number of family and friends with both type one and type two.  One of whom has supported this post and provided me with the facts.  She is a brilliant mum, campaigning hard to raise awareness and make the life of her son and other peoples children easier.  Knowledge = Power!

Anyway...  Here are a few facts:

1. Type one in children is NOT caused by obesity.  It's a chronic, life-threatening, auto-immune disease.
2. People with diabetes are NOT allergic to sugar.
3. Insulin does not cure diabetes, it is merely a tool to maintain life.
4. Diabetes is NOT contagious so it's fine to let your kids play with those that have it, they're no different.
5. Type one diabetes is a chronic auto-immune disease.  Type 2 is a metabolic disease that it caused by lifestyle and diet.  Neither can be cured.
6. Type one diabetes CANNOT be cured and injections and finger pricks DO hurt , but it has to be done.
7. Type one in children affects the WHOLE family.  By concentrating on the child with the condition, sometimes you forget about their siblings, unintentionally of course.
8. Kids may have type one but the most important thing is they are normal and they do have feelings.
9. Type one in children stays with them for life and NO they won't grow out of it and it's NOT a phase.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hope you like my mani which is Nails Inc Kensington Park Road.

I'm trying.

Hi! So I've been trying my damnedest to keep this blog going. And I'm not doing very well. I had drafted some posts a while back (which I will still go ahead and post). I never got round to posting them at the time because I had an iPhone and the app just didn't want to work for me.
I know theyre a little out of date but I hope you still find them interesting. So what's been happening since I last posted?  Well I met a guy (on Tinder of all places), we got engaged last November (I'll do a proper post on this), and we got marries this September!  We enjoyed a wonderful honeymoon in Japan and for the past month its been back to reality. I am going to change this blog a bit.  Before it could have always been classified as a beauty blog. Now I think it'll be more of an eclectic blog (by the way check out She's Eclectic one of my all time favourite bloggers). Anyway,  sorry about all the words and lack of pictures bit I hope to rectify that soon. Bye for now.

Money Smart Nail Art Competition Entry

Hi all!
Wow!  I'm really shocked, MoneySupermarket.com have invited me to participate in their Money Smart Nail Art Bloggers Competition.  This means I am in with the chance to win a prize worth £300, how amazing would that be!

Anyway for my regular followers you will know that I'm mad on leopard print!  So I thought what better design to do a tutorial on.
Materials Required: Base Coat - I use OPI Matte Nail Envy Selection of polishes - cremes are best for opacity but you can use glitters if you build them up Nail Art pen or Dotting Tool  Top Coat - I use Seche Vite

Paint your nails with the base coat to protect your nail from staining (I also find that Nail Envy encourages nail growth). *A good tip is before you start, wipe your nails with some nail polish remover, this is called squeaking the nail, it will remove any excess oil, making your mani last longer.

Paint your nails your chosen colours, any colours work but I've chose a few of the Barry M Gellies (which are c…

Pastel Polka Dots

Hello lovelies!
A lazy Friday night in resulted in playing with polish and with studs.

Polishes used: Lime Crime - Parfait Day Treasures By Tan - Gramma Cupcake

I was in the mood for some spring pastels to brighten up this horrid grey weather we've been suffering recently.

I added the studs as an afterthought, I was going to attempt some freehand art but I love how these turned out.
