Lazy 15 Challenge - Day 13: Guilty Pleasure

Hi all!

It's day 13 of the Lazy 15 Challenge so we're nearly at the end.  Today is Guilty Pleasures and it took me a while to decide what to do as nail polish would be my main one but I wanted to do something a little bit different and then I remembered... Dr Martens.

I love Dr Martens and I call them a guilty pleasure as they are so expensive, they are worth it because they last but I feel guilty buying them.

At present I actually only own 1 pair that my lovely parents bought me for my birthday but I am eyeing up another that I will hopefully be able to afford soon.

These are my lovely purple shimmer Dr Martens and below in my interpretation of them.

I used:
2 coats of A England - Avalon
Models Own Nail Art Pen - Black & Silver

What's your guilty pleasure?

NOTD: Models Own - Southern Lights

Hi all!

I've got a sparkly number from the Models Own Wonderland  collections, Southern Lights... but first to the underwear =)

I used 2 coats of Nails Inc Putney Bridge for the base.  The application was smooth if not a little thick (I really need to invest in some thinner).

I then added 2 coats of Models Own Southern Lights, a lilac and holographic dusty glitter, that's like China Glaze Fairy Dust or Nails Inc Electric Lane on Steroids!

Do you like a bit of sparkle?

LOTD: Milani Haute Flash - In a Flash

Hi all!

This is the last of the trio of Milani lip glosses that I nabbed in TK Maxx and possibly the most surprising 1.

It's a purple gloss with a blurple shimmer running though it, in a word AMAZING!
I love this colour because it is so different.
Again the application was smooth and it left a nice stain, but words cannot describe the uniqueness of this colour, I was fascinated by it.

(it was quite hard to pick up the intensity of the colour in this photo)

(with flash)

Have you wore a lip colour like this before?

Lazy 15 Challenge Day 12 and L is for ...

Hi all!

L is for Little Red Riding Hood and it's also day 12 of the Lazy 15 challenge and the topic is Fairytale.

I decided to do something from the Little Red Riding Hood Fairytale on each nail so we have:
The basket she is bringing to grandma's.
Her red riding hood.
The big bad wolf.
The axe used to rescue Little Red and grandma from the wolf.

I have used:
Nails Inc - Elizabeth Street (base)
Nails Inc - Hampstead Gardens (basket)
Nails Inc - Fitzmaurice Place (red riding hood)
OPI - The World Is Not Enough (wolf & axe)
Models Own - Nails Art Pens (details)

Currently I'm a big fan of Fairytale's and I'm in the process of re-watching Once Upon A Time which I just got on DVD.

Are you a fan of Fairytale's?

NOTD: OPI Warm & Fozzie Leopard Print

Hi all!

It's been a while since I've done a mani that's not been swatches, trying new polishes or for a challenge.

So today's mani is from a night out with the girls and I did it to match my dress. I'm not usually the matchy matchy kind of person but I really liked the pattern in my dress so I inverted the colours a wee bit and this is what I came up with.

2 coats of OPI Warm & Fozzie (from the 2011 Muppet's collection)
"Splodges" of Nails Inc Black Taxi
Detail using Models Own White Nail Art Pen

It's the first time I've done the leopard print with black spots and different colour detailing but I quite like how it turned out.

I will mention that I've noticed compared to the No.7 nail art pens I previously used, that the Models Own pens, while easier to use, seem to smear when I apply Seche Vite.  I've had this happen 2 or 3 times now and I'm reluctant to change topcoats as Seche really works for me.

Lazy 15 Challenge Day 11/31 Days of Nail Art Day 4

Hi all!

Another combined post today =D

Lazy 15 Challenge - Fireworks

31 Days of Nail Art - Green

The green I decided to use is from Nails Inc - Madison Avenue - a dark forest green that was opaque in 1 coat but I used 2 to even it out.

I know green isn't exactly the colour of the night sky but I decided to give it a whirl.

For the fireworks I added 2 coats of Star Light, Star Bright, Wishin' for a Cure Tonight from Treasures By Tan - a clear jelly base packed full with blue, purple, white, black and silver glitter, there are hexes, bars, micro-glitters and even stars.  No fishing required either which is a bonus.  Nearly every brush stroke had at least 1 star on it.

What do you think of my fireworks?

NOTD: Barry M Limited Edition Pink Foil Exclusive to Boots

Hi all!

So for the Barry M fans out there you'll know that they announced that for Christmas they are bringing out 2 Limited Edition foils.  A pink one exclusive to Boots and a blue one exclusive to Superdrug.  They are also releasing a glitter which is a clear base with pink and blue hex's.

Now these aren't supposed to be available until the 28th November at the earliest according to their facebook page BUT I found the pink one last weekend without realising what it even was and I'm glad now that I picked it up as I can share it with you lovelies.

As with all Barry M's the brush is quite narrow (though I have no problems with this), I thought it might be a 1 coater, but no that was a wee bit patchy, the second coat rounded everything off nicely.
There's a really nice silver shimmer through this that makes it look really sparkly in the halogen lights (it's winter in Northern Ireland and I'm working so not a lot of sunlight).

As far as I know to get a hold of these polishes once released all you have to do is spend £6.00 on Barry M products and it will be yours for free, which no (kind of) explains to me why it showed as £0.00 on my Boots receipt as I had spent £14.00 on Models Own polishes, what a lucky break, huh!

I also added a coat of the recent freebie from the Glamour magazine on my ring and thumb, Nails Inc Glamour Glitter, though I don't think it stands out very well against this colour.

Hoping to get my hands on the blue foil and glitter soon, so watch this space...

NOTD: Nails Inc Sheraton Street & Models Own Freak Out!

Hi all!

I've got a pretty combo for you today.

I used 1 coat of Nails Inc Sheraton Street (yes 1 coat!) a really opaque, smooth application with a pale blue finish.

Then I topped this with 2 coats of Models Own Freak Out! from the Mirrorball Collection.  This is a clear base with purple micro-glitters, dark blue hex's, aqua blue foils and aqua blue bar glitters.

The Models Own smelt a bit weird even as nail polish goes but I'll forgive the smell for the fab look I've got here.

Have you tried any of the Mirrorballs?

Review: Glitzology Cupcake Scented Cuticle Oil

Hi all!

So for my regular readers you'll know that recently the lovely Stacey from Glitzology recently sent me some polishes to review (and I've become her biggest fan I've ordered maybe 5 times since receiving my review polishes). Well she also popped in a little bottle of Cupcake Scented Cuticle Oil that she's debating selling and I really hope that she does!

The Cupcake oil came in a little 5ml bottle with a brush, I've been using it at least twice a day whilst at work and have barely made a dent in it.

This is going to sound silly but whilst its an oil it's not too oily/greasy. It sinks in well and the scent, oh my, as someone who has a mother who bakes, it smells exactly like my house when mums been baking cakes. After a while when the scent has settled there's a lovely, slightly floral undertone.

It's kept my cuticles well nourished, even in this cold weather.

Here's hoping Stacey decides to produce more of these wonderful oils.

What kind if scents would you like?

Sat-ART-Day - One Stroke Mani

Hi all!

So I really wanted to not do this mani as I'd never done it before and I was certain it would turn out a mess (bit like me water marbling) but I gave it a go and it wasn't as bad as it might have been.

Above is the link to the video were I learned what a one-stroke mani was.  She made it look easier than I found it lol.

I used:
Nails Inc - Great Pulteney Street
Nails Inc - Piccadilly Arcade
NYC - Pinstripe White
Models Own - Black Nail Art Pen

It didn't turn out too badly for a first attempt.

Lazy 15 Challenge: Day 10 - Underwater Creatures

Hi all!

Day 10 is here of the Lazy 15 Challenge and today we're looking at Underwater Creatures.

I decided to try to replicate the markings of 2 of the most famous and funny fish out there, Dory and Marlin from Finding Nemo.

For Marlin's stripes I used:
NYC - Pinstripe White
Essie - Orange, It's Obvious
Models Own - Black Nail Art Pen

For Dory's fins I used:
Milani - Lemongello
Essence - Let's Get Lost
Models Own - Black Nail Art Pen

What do you think of my interpretation?

NOTD: Essie - Where's my Chauffeur and Models Own Jack Frost

Hi all!

I've got (what I think is) a really nice combo for you today.

2 coats of Essie - Where's my Chauffeur topped with 1 coat of Models Own Jack Frost.

Where's my Chauffeur is a deep mint green, smooth application and perfect in 2 coats.

Jack Frost is kind of a flakie, but with really small glitter like particles.  As a topcoat here it looks ice blue though I had a really hard time getting the camera to pick it up.

Are you a fan of flakie topcoats?

LOTD: Milani Haute Flash - Hot Flash

Hi all!

I've got another of my Milani glosses to show you today.

Hot Flash is quite a rustic colour but with a neutral undertone rather than orange (if that makes any sense?)  Application was smooth and there is some nice shimmer running through this.  It also leaves a nice stain on your lips making it longer lasting than some lip glosses.

(with flash)

Is this a colour you would wear?

Lazy 15 Challenge Day 9/K is for...

Hi all!

Another combined post =D

Lazy 15 Challenge - Day 9 - Disney Movie/Character: I've went with the Aristocats

And...

For the Llama Nails ABC... Challenge

K is for... Kittens =D

Do you like what I did there?

Now my free hand here isn't great but I think they're pretty cute, lol.

So the little Ginger dude is Toulouse.
The white princess is Marie.
And the little black/grey guy is Berlioz.

For Toulouse I used a base of OPI - Rising Star.
For Marie I used a base of NYC - Pinstripe White.
For Berlioz I used a base of Orly - Faint of Heart.

The details of all 3 were done using the Models Own Nail Art Pens.

This is a Disney movie I have personally overlooked and really want to watch now...

Which Disney movies have you overlooked?

NOTD: OPI - Rising Star

Hi all!

I'm showing you OPI Rising Star today.  I've had this colour a while and I recently used it for some nail art (see tomorrow's challenge post) so decided to use it for a full mani as it's such a pretty colour.

An orange toned copper, with a lovely metallic shimmer.  The formula is quite thin (maybe this is just my bottle) but I found this to be a 3 coater.

When the light hits it right this baby sure does sparkle, there are hints of red and green shimmer.

I do love this colour!

Is it a colour you would wear?
