Birthday Celebrations - Round 1

Hello lovelies!

Saturday 5th of July 2014 (I'm writing now and hoping to post ASAP)

I'm attempting to come back from a fairly long in scheduled absence. And There is no reasoning behind it other than other things have simply taken priority.

I've developed a rather decent social life so most weekends I'm out and about somewhere.
I've started back at the gym and I go 3 nights a week (I do Spin and Pump both nights). I also try (I say try) to get out walking at the weekends but walking round the shops counts, right?
I'm also job hunting as my current contract is due to finish soon which has been a bit stressful but I'm sure something will come up.

Anyway this is the year myself and my close friends turn the BIG 3-0!

I'd been fine about it until I saw the episode of Friends "The One Where They All Turn 30" and then I had a mini meltdown. I'm fine now though haha!

Anyway tonight is the first round of my celebrations. I say first as I'm going to be in Turkey on holidays for the event itself so these are some at home celebrations.

We're going to a nice restaurant and there will be music. It's not quite what I had planned but circumstances beyond my control made that decision.

I've went a bit mad on my outfit. I'm normally quite a thrifty girl but your thirtieth is quite an occasion so I treated myself to this dress from

And I wore it with these fabulous Kim Bow Irregular Choice.

Of course I needed some bling and while initially I wanted a tattoo print style necklace I couldn't find one that suited but one day walking past a random wee shop I spotted this beauty which is way of track but stunning nonetheless.

Makeup wise I immediately knew what colours I was planning but let's talk about the base. I'm a huge Benefit fan and have always used their Hello Flawless range but recently I picked up Big Easy in 04 medium (a honey shade) this is a BB cream which is great for day to day light wear (and has SPF35) but also acts as an excellent primer for Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW. I didn't realise I'm actually not sing quite the right shade in this as I'm definitely a honey toned skin bit I'm using Cheers to Me (Champagne) I think I got confused as they had changed the names the last time I went to buy this. Anyway that was later too and finally I topped with Hello Flawless I'm Cute As a Bunney (Honey). I also decided since I'd caught the sun a little to add a little Sun Beam to my moisturiser to give me a nice glow.

As I said I knew immediately what colours I was going for my eyes and I knew Urban decay would help to achieve this look, specifically the Anniversary Palette which has to be my favourite as it has the perfect balance of brights and neutrals plus the purple and teal in it are to die for! I used Omen on my lids with a 24/7 eye-liner in Deep End on the waterline.  And of course a good coat of Benefit "They're Real!"

I know with such bright eyes I probably should have toned down my lips, nah! Not about to happen and I went with Revlon Unapologetic.

I decided there was enough purple and teal to highlight the coral in the outfit not only on my lips but on my nails so here I have Nails Inc - Blandford Street, topped with Electric Lane (holographic glitter topcoat). My nails are on the mend, I chewed them off in a state if panic while waiting on an emergency dentist appointment.

And TA-DA! Here is the whole look pulled together. Hair is c/o my lovely long time hairdresser and a night spent looking like Mrs Brown hehe.

What was quite funny was I'd figured out what makeup I wanted but not so much the hair when shared this...

.... It's basically the look I'd been aiming for the whole time and it showed me what I wanted my hair to look like.

Here's hoping to a good night of celebrations!

And I promise to try and post more frequently.

Popular posts from this blog

I'm trying.

Hi! So I've been trying my damnedest to keep this blog going. And I'm not doing very well. I had drafted some posts a while back (which I will still go ahead and post). I never got round to posting them at the time because I had an iPhone and the app just didn't want to work for me.
I know theyre a little out of date but I hope you still find them interesting. So what's been happening since I last posted?  Well I met a guy (on Tinder of all places), we got engaged last November (I'll do a proper post on this), and we got marries this September!  We enjoyed a wonderful honeymoon in Japan and for the past month its been back to reality. I am going to change this blog a bit.  Before it could have always been classified as a beauty blog. Now I think it'll be more of an eclectic blog (by the way check out She's Eclectic one of my all time favourite bloggers). Anyway,  sorry about all the words and lack of pictures bit I hope to rectify that soon. Bye for now.

Money Smart Nail Art Competition Entry

Hi all!
Wow!  I'm really shocked, have invited me to participate in their Money Smart Nail Art Bloggers Competition.  This means I am in with the chance to win a prize worth £300, how amazing would that be!

Anyway for my regular followers you will know that I'm mad on leopard print!  So I thought what better design to do a tutorial on.
Materials Required: Base Coat - I use OPI Matte Nail Envy Selection of polishes - cremes are best for opacity but you can use glitters if you build them up Nail Art pen or Dotting Tool  Top Coat - I use Seche Vite

Paint your nails with the base coat to protect your nail from staining (I also find that Nail Envy encourages nail growth). *A good tip is before you start, wipe your nails with some nail polish remover, this is called squeaking the nail, it will remove any excess oil, making your mani last longer.

Paint your nails your chosen colours, any colours work but I've chose a few of the Barry M Gellies (which are c…

Nail Lacquer UK - Turkish Delight

Hello lovelies!
Today I'm wearing Nail Lacquer UK - Turkish Delight. I'm a huge indie fan and I love that there are some brilliant UK indies out there.
Turkish Delight is a pink jelly, full of pink/purple circle glitters.  There's a stunning iridescent purple shimmer through it also.

I can't describe how stunning this is in real life and I struggled to capture it's beauty, this was the best I could manage with the bathroom lights, lol.

I reckon with the shimmer this would look fab over black!
P.S. Can't say I wasn't attracted to this polish purely for its name, hehe. xo
